2014 Exam Results

I am delighted to report this year’s exam results.

        

Although overall the data presents as a lower percentage for 5 x A* - G against previous years, (53% this

year, 74% last year), it needs to be contextualised against schools not being able to count Functional Skills

in English and Maths, Preparation for Working Life or RYA Powerboats qualifications.

  

If those subjects were allowed in this year’s reporting data, then DLC would be reporting achievement

in 5 x A* - G at over 80% which is higher than we have ever reported.

         

Whilst I understand the Department for Education’s desire to address the issue of grade inflation and GCSE

equivalent qualifications it does seem unfair, to some of this year’s students, that their efforts may not be

as well recognised as they may have been in the past.

  

That aside, well done everyone, DLC’s 2014 Year 11 leavers achieved very good results which proved better

than predicted.
