At the Osprey Centre pupils and staff were set the challenge to complete 25 kilometers in aid of Sport Relief
using the treadmill, rowing machine, cross trainer and cycle.
The team of Jamie, Tommy, Conner, Josh, Corey, Jacob, Dez and Aaron, encouraged and supported by Grant
and Dill, far exceeded all expectations by completing an incredible 52 kilometers in 50 minutes. Grant was
more than pleased with the group’s efforts adding, “The group as a whole showed amazing individual effort
and team support. To see the group cheering and actively encouraging all participating students was a true
reflection of their understanding of sportsmanship and team effort. I for one have nothing but respect for
their outstanding effort”.
On the 27th March the Tuesday group of Conner, Tommy, Keiran, Dale, Chris, Tom and Ryan took up the gauntlet
and proved to be as outstanding as the Friday group. The group completed 2 laps each of the 2.5 kilometer course
actively encouraging and supporting each other - well done to all.
A huge thank you to all DLC staff who baked and sold cakes throughout the week leading up to the main event
and a huge thank you to all staff, parents, carers and the general public who helped swell the coffers.
It is hoped that when all monies and sponsorships have been collected the total will exceed £150.
