DLC were losing finalists in the Dorset Learning Centres' 2016 Tournament.
Following on from the success of last year’s DLC six-a-side team - who remained undefeated at the 2015 event
hosted by The Forum, Blandford – another strong football side from our Centre played out six fiercely competitive
matches at the Littledown Centre, Bournemouth, winning five of them.
DLC was well represented on the day with two players (Gianni and Callum) playing all of their six matches for
Sherborne LC while another, Matt, played between the sticks for The Compass. That left a bare six players for our
own side who then had to play every minute of every game!
The DLC side comprised Danny (GK), Owen F, Owen P, Lenny, Jake and Hayden (Ciaran (unwell) sadly missed out
after starring at last year’s tourney). Just like last year, DLC romped home in all of their group matches, winning five
out of five. Sadly though, in a tense final with hosts Christchurch LC, it appeared that DLC had run out of steam as
a tired team lost out 2-0.
However, Owen P was happy to receive the runners-up shield from Christchurch’s Duncan Roebuck after a fine day
of football played in a friendly but competitive spirit by every player present.
Having lost the semi-final on penalties in 2015 and the final in 2016 let’s hope the 2017 team can go one better
when we host the event ourselves at Redlands, Weymouth, next March.
